Our Achievements In Reception 2022/23

PE - Ball Skills

In PE we have been practising our ball skills by being 'busy bees'.

We were developing rolling and stopping a ball. We worked together and took turns, and listened carefully to the instructions.

Summer Term Gardening Club

Reception children have enjoyed taking part in our Summer Gardening club. We have dug a bed, planted potatoes and created a wormery!

People Who Help Us

We have been thinking about the people who help us in our community. We have been learning about their jobs, their uniforms and about the vehicles they use.

PC Kirkpatrick and PC Monkhouse visited us first. They brought their electric police car to school. They talked to us about their job and showed us the different parts of their uniform.

Next the Fire Service (Carlisle East) came to school, in their fire engine; we all had a go squirting water from the hose, it was lots of fun! We looked at all of the equipment in the fire engine and got to sit inside the engine.

Rob and Gill, who are paramedics visited us; we got to look inside the ambulance, sit in the driver's seat and have our oxygen levels tested!

Science Week

We celebrated Science Week by becoming inventors. We created accessories for daddy bear's wheelchair, so that he could carry the shopping!

World Book Day

For World Book Day we all came to school dressed as a character from our favourite book. We also went to Carlisle Library on the bus to choose a book to take home.

Outdoors

We love to explore the world around us - we are very lucky to have a large school field to explore and an outdoor area where we can build, climb and create large structures. We have lots of fun and enjoy challenging ourselves.

Susan's Farm

We went to Susan's Farm, near Carlisle. We learnt about what happens on a farm and what animals we may find. We enjoyed exploring the farm and meeting Chester the horse and RunRig the bull.

When we got back to school we all created cows. Helen from the farm came to judge them and gave the winners special trophies.
