Art - Andy Goldsworthy

Class 1 have been looking at the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy.

We know that he creates his works of art using natural materials. We also know that this work is often temporary so he photographs his artwork to create a lasting image. We have been inspired to experiment with this style of artwork.

We have identified and sorted natural materials by shape, colour and form. We have also created artwork with spirals, curves and reflection. We have worked outside to collect natural materials to use in our artwork. We have explored the feel of a variety of materials as we worked.

Trip to Stocks Wood

What a fantastic time we had on our trip to Stocks Wood Forest School.

The day linked with our Science work on seasonal changes and identifying plants. We explored the forest, looking for signs of Spring. Lots of wild flowers were starting to grow and we noticed how the trees were starting to grow buds on their branches. We played a game where we had to think about the seasons and link the object or clothing to the correct season. When we went pond dipping we saw some frog spawn. Lots of changes were happening in the forest. A sign that Spring is here!

We also sang songs, one was very funny, it was called 'Hedgehog Poo'.

We made fires with a flint and some cotton wool. We also toasted marshmallows on the campfire. They were delicious!

What a fabulous day!
