For the second year running our Schoool Council has entered the 'Bright Stars' competition, an initiative established to encourage school children to be enterprising through setting up their own school 'business'. The project lasts for six weeks, during which the business has to be established and run. At the end of the six weeks the project is evaluated and judged.
This year our school set up an Events Management Committee and, during their six weeks, organised a Family Film Night, a Quiz Night and a Healthy Hearts Day. Each of these events was very successful and raised £644 in total. The School Council had decided that half of the takings would be given to this year's charity - The Great North Air Ambulance - and the other half donated to school funds to support the re-modelling of the Infant yard.
These photographs show the School Council presenting the GNAA with a cheque for £322.
School did not win a prize for their Bright Stars entry this year but, we hope you agree, they worked very hard, managed to raise a lot of money in a short amount of time and provided some memorable events while doing so. Quite an achievement, well done!
